- Dunkin Voted to Raise Your Taxes, but Didn’t Pay His
Ken Dunkin has voted for higher income taxes1 and voted against repealing the Cook County sales tax increase2 that makes sales taxes for residents of the 5th District the highest in the nation. The Chicago Sun-Times has endorsed David Schroeder citing his "thoughtful and progressive views on tax policy, ethics reform and school finance." The Sun-Times referred to David's opponent as "a Blagojevich apologist and a disappointment." Read the Full Endorsement Here.

- CHICAGO TRIBUNE ENDORSES SCHROEDER
The Tribune noted that Schroeder’s opponent, incumbent Ken Dunkin, was a defender of impeached ex-Governor Rod Blagojevich and that Dunkin missed the impeachment vote. “Voters don’t have to put up with that,” the Tribune wrote. - SCHROEDER OUTRAISES DUNKIN
For the period July 1, 2009 – December 31, 2009, campaign finance reports show that Schroeder had receipts totaling $95,238 (which includes $50,000 in loans), while Dunkin showed receipts of only $25,900 for the same period. Read our Press Release.

- Schroeder Tops the Ballot
Last week the Illinois State Board of Elections announced that David has been appointed the top spot on the February 2nd Democratic Primary Ballot in the Illinois General Assembly's 5th District. A lottery is held for candidates who file their petitions at the start of the filing period. The top ballot spot can be worth 3-5% of the vote so this is yet another means of momentum for the campaign.
